Bowler "Day at the Strip" Autocross

Terre Haute Regional Airport

About this event

What’s up with Midwest Muscle Car this year? Well, it has been a wild ride the past 12 months while we have all been on the edge of our seats waiting to see how the lockdowns are going to affect our beloved car events this coming summer. We regrettably had to cancel last years’ event due to the restrictions on crowd size, but it is looking up for this year!
We realize this information is coming at you a lot later than normal, but we also had to wait and see how everything was going to unfold to avoid a repeat of the problems we faced last year. Without further ado, here is the plan for 2021.

This year we will be going back to our roots and hosting a more traditional Day at the Strip Autocross event. Due to the unforeseen circumstances of last year, we have had to make some modifications to the event for this year. Unfortunately, there will not be a road course track day at Putnam Park as we were unable to secure a private event day for the 2021 season. Instead of just canceling the event altogether again we decided that a 2-day autocross event would be the next best option. We are still planning on having a great time and giving you the best event possible. This year’s setup will give you plenty of track access to really hone those driving skills in preparation for the rest of the season’s events you will be attending. The event will still be held to raise money for the Lawrence Country Cancer center with all proceeds being donated after the event. We will still provide 3 meals (lunch and dinner on Friday, and lunch on Saturday). There will still be prizes given away, and there will still be plenty of fun to be had with all of our car friends and we really hope to see you all there! Sorry, but there will not be an event T-Shirt this year.

The event will be held at the Terre Haute, Indiana airport, just like we did in the past, but with 2 exciting days of autocross action on the tarmac. We have again partnered with the local SCCA club to provide you with a fun and challenging course that will change from one day to the next to keep you on top of your game.

When do we plan on doing this? – We currently have the airport reserved for Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, 2021. We know this may conflict with something you already have scheduled, and we would have preferred to have given you more advanced notice but insert a Covid restriction excuse here.

The field will still be limited to 60 cars just as we did in the past. We are going to allow a small group of our friends with 1988 and newer muscle cars to run, but our focus is the pre-’87 muscle cars and trucks. We will have two classes for the Autocross Challenge.

Since the cost to run the event will be less this year not having the road course portion, we have lowered the entry fee to $225 per vehicle for the weekend. There will be no refund and your entry will be considered a donation to the Lawrence Country Cancer Resource Center.

We are still working out some of the other smaller details and will have more information for you soon. The Holiday Inn Express at 2645 Joe Fox St, Terre Haute, IN 47803 will be the host hotel. (Hotel 812-234-3200)
