About this event

We will be holding a half-day CCC on the skid pad at Thunderhill Raceway Park on the Friday before the November HPDS. The skid pad will be wet, so this will be a great opportunity to hone your car-control skills!

Instructors will have access to the skid pad in the morning for warm-up and practice. For students, the Wet Skidpad CCC starts at 11:30 and ends at 5:00. A very limited number of students will be accepted.

Before registering, please read the entire Car Control Clinic Overview for important information and required forms for the day of the event. Please also see the FAQs.

Are you comfortable controlling understeer and oversteer? Can you recover from a "tail happy" moment in a corner? Car control skills are learned techniques that help you to be a safer driver in everyday situations. Further, car control skills are fundamental to performance driving. Explore your limits and your car’s limits in a controlled setting.

All you need to attend is your car, a valid driver’s license, a helmet and the registration fee. (You will also need to complete a Minor Waiver if you are under 18)  Two-driver cars are allowed—with each driver registering separately. Please note that helmets are required for this clinic. A limited number of loaner helmets will be available on-site.

The November 9, 2018 WSP CCC will be held on the skid pad at Thunderhill Raceway Park, near Willows, CA. Check-in for registered students opens at 11:30 AM. The event concludes at 5:00 PM. The cost is $350 for BMW CCA members. For non-members, the cost is $398, which includes a one year membership in the BMW CCA. Lunch is not included.

The CCCs are open to all club members. The WSP CCC program includes some very challenging driving exercises, and is structured for people with some previous performance driving experience, such as a CCC, autocross or HPDS. Each participant receives personalized instruction provided by experienced club instructors.

Event requirements

Registration must be made in advance by filling out and submitting an on-line application. The student roster will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all the open seats have been filled, further registrants will automatically be placed on a waiting list, from which seats that open up later will be filled in order of registration.

Each driver must be registered separately in their own name, and must have their own Motorsportreg.com account. Only on-line credit card payment or electronic check will be accepted. You may not register at the event. We will be using the e-mail address in your Motorsportreg.com profile to contact you about any issues with your registration and to send you further information about the event, so please make sure that this address is a good way to contact you.

You must be a member of (or join) the BMW Car Club of America to participate. You do not have to own a BMW to join the BMW CCA or to participate in our driving events.

If you are already a member of the BMW CCA please include your Membership Number in your registration. If this information is not provided, your registration may be canceled. If you are not a BMW CCA member you may purchase your membership with your registration.

If you live in a household with an active member, you may call the national office of the BMW CCA at 1(800)878-9292 to become an associate member for $10. If you go that route, provide your associate membership number with your registration.

Helmets are required for the clinic. Your helmet must meet the club’s helmet standards and must be inspected at check-in. Loaner helmets will be available at check-in.

If you need this clinic as a prerequisite for a BMW CCA track school, keep in mind that you will not be placed on the clinic roster automatically. You must register and pay separately for this clinic. Please register early to make sure you get in.

Your car will have to pass a technical inspection at the event. The tech inspection form will be sent to registered students as part of the Student Packet that you will receive in advance to allow you to check your car ahead of time.

We do not allow SUVs at the clinic due to their high centers of gravity. The BMW X models and Porsche Cayenne and Macan SAVs are the only exceptions to this policy, and are allowed at the CCC. Convertibles are allowed at the clinic.  If there is a question about the appropriateness of your vehicle, please contact us at carcontrol@ggcbmwcca.org.

Before registering, please read the entire Car Control Clinic Overview for important information and required forms for the day of the event.  Please also see the FAQs.

If the event is full, please register anyway. You will be placed on a waiting list. We often have late cancelations, and fill empty seats from this list in order of registration. Also, if instructor registration reaches a certain threshold, we will accept more students into the clinic. We will contact you to make sure you are still interested before taking payment. In addition, by registering for the waiting list, you will get an email notification when registration opens for the next event.
