ACNW University of Quattro '18

Evergreen Speedway

About this event

Audi Club Northwest presents "University of Quattro" Driver Skills and Autocross at the Monroe Fairgrounds/Evergreen Speedway on Sunday, February 25, 2018!

Do you have a new car and want to learn what driving it feels like in a challenging course design? Or have you ever really learned how to drive the one you have? Drivers with any vehicle brand are welcome to attend our events so please invite your friends to come have fun together.

University of Quattro is a place to push the envelope of your vehicle’s capabilities in a controlled environment with fantastic club instructors to work with you on becoming a better driver. This program has something for 16 year-old drivers with a learners permit just starting their road experience and for the 50 year-old that has always wondered if they really do know everything there is to know about driving.

Audi Club Northwest is focused on providing training experiences for you as the driver, with the most important goal of your car making it home safely every night. The University of Quattro program also qualifies you to attend high-speed instructed lapping events later this year, such as Son of Quattrofest on March 25 at The Ridge Motorsports Park (RMP) and Verloren Gehen on April 14-15 at Oregon Raceway Park (ORP).

Sunday morning starts with Driver’s Skills (DS). The program includes a short 'ground school' session where we'll discuss vehicle dynamics, how to maximize your skills and minimize the chances of being involved in a collision, all with the goal of having fun while becoming a more polished driver.

After the 'ground school' we'll transition to the large paved surfaces at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds where Audi Club Northwest instructors will lead you through an array of exercises designed to teach new skills and expand on familiar ones in a controlled but exhilarating way. For many, these exercises are the most fun part of the day!

Once you have experienced what you and your car can do as part of the exercises, we'll turn the pavement into an autocross course. An autocross is a small course, created with an assortment of cones, which will test your new skills in a fun way. With an instructor in your right seat, you'll work together to improve your car control and driving confidence. The course is timed, so you'll be able to see your improvement as you gain experience and develop the strategies to better your next run. This is where the fun REALLY begins. Expect to go home with sore cheeks as your smiling muscles will be the most tested of all.

Learning to be better drivers is what Audi Club Northwest is all about. To get an idea of what the drills and exercises that make up our driving schools look like, check out this quick overview video captured at an event from a few years back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLQC4R_ulcg.

Teen drivers are encouraged to take this course and Audi Club Northwest is offering a $25 subsidy. Parents are encouraged to take the course too, also at a discount if you have a teen with you. This is a great way to ensure you both have the same experiences and language to use in later conversations. You may share one car, but parent and teen must register as separate participants. This will be an all-day event and it will be the best focused time each of you has spent on driving skills. That's $150 total for teen and parent for the full day of instruction, practice, lunch together, and huge fun too. A parent or guardian needs to be onsite during the day with drivers under 18 years old. Minimum age is 15 years old with a current Driver's/Learner's permit.

The program is focused on driver skill development and learning about how you and your car work together for a safer experience on the streets and freeways. A coach will be with you in the right seat of your car to personalize the whole event.

Adult drivers and teen drivers may choose from the following event options:
• Driver Skills and Autocross with lunch, Adult.  $100
• Driver Skills and Autocross with lunch, Teen.  $75 ($100-$25 Teen Discount, Teen Parent Discount)

Your registration includes lunch. Guest lunches are available for $15.

An Audi car is not required for any portion of University of Quattro so feel free to invite friends and co-workers to this event. Audi Club North America membership is not required (although it is encouraged) for either the Driver’s Skills exercises or autocross.

It's OK to bring friends with you to spectate. You may be able to arrange rides for them with designated instructors during the lunch break to experience first-hand what a Driver’s Skills day is all about. This is also an opportunity to come out to an Audi Club Northwest event; meet some of the people involved, watch what is going on, and talk to us. You are welcome to spectate. Everyone who enters the facility must sign the waiver to be made part of the club insurance.

Event requirements

Everyone must sign the Release and Waiver for Audi Club Northwest’s insurance coverage when coming onto the facility.  This requirement includes drivers, instructors, teens, guests and visitors.  The full text of this Release and Waiver is on the next screens.  Please read it carefully.  Parents or guardians must also sign a Teen Waiver on behalf of participating teens.  Please contact the Event Masters or Registrar prior to the event with any questions about these important documents.

Helmets are NOT required for this event!

The event will start at 8:00 am, but participants will need to arrive by 7:30am in order to check-in and participate in a short vehicle inspection. While no formal Safety Inspection Checklist will be required for this event, it is strongly recommended that you, or a qualified individual, perform a pre-event inspection of the critical safety components of your vehicle (ie: brake pads, tire pressure set to factory specs, fluids at proper levels, adequate tire tread depth, lug nots/bolts torqued to factory spec, etc). Additional information will be sent to you prior to the event. The event will run until dark or 5:00, whichever comes first.  A full event schedule will be sent out prior to the event that will outline some of the basic schedule of the day.

This event will qualify the driver for additional ACNW events, such as Son of Quattrofest at The Ridge in March.

Convertibles and Roadsters may run in Sunday's DS exercises and the autocross. Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUVs) like the Audi Q3, Q5 and SQ5 may participate, but Trucks, larger Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs, SAVs) and other high-center vehicles are not permitted.  Contact the Event Master Pat Martin or Registrar Todd Peach for clarification if you are unsure about whether your vehicle qualifies for the event at Monroe.
