SATURDAY, AUGUST 8

I. Drives to Green Bank, WV (Choose your starting point.)

• Fee:  $0.00 – Drives to Green Bank, WV will start from Crozet (with pick up points in Churchville and Monterey, VA) OR from Roanoke

• 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM:  Drive to Green Bank, WV

II. Tour of NRAO Green Bank Observatory

• Deli lunch buffet in the Science Center classroom  Fee:  $7.00 per person
• Introduction to the Green Bank Observatory and movie in the Science Center auditorium, Bus tour to Green Bank Telescope (whole group)  Fee:  $0.00 per person
• Small group tour rotation among control room, Jansky electronics lab, and the Science Center “Catching the Wave” exhibit hall  Fee:  $0.00 per person
• Walking tour of Reber & Jansky telescopes with Jim Condon, explore Science Center on your own, &/or visit the Galaxy Gift Shop  Fee:  $0.00 per person

NEXT YOU CAN:

1. Return home on your own OR
2. Stay for dinner at Brazen Head Inn in Mingo, WV & return home OR
3. Stay for dinner, spend the night at Snowshoe Resort, & enjoy more activities on Sunday, Monday, or both

II. Fun Run to The Greenbrier Resort

• Fee:  $0.00

III. Visit to The Greenbrier Resort and “The Bunker”

• Fees:  $40 per adult, $20 per child ages 10 – 17

• Younger children cannot go into The Bunker without prior approval.

IV. Lunch The Greenbrier Resort

• Fee:  $0.00 (Order from menu. Pay restaurant for your own meals.)

• Reservations are not accepted, so we will try to get into Sam Snead’s Tavern (overlooking the 18th hole of the golf course) or one of the other restaurants at The Greenbrier.

V. The Wild & Wonderful West Virginia Tour Concludes

• Continue your visit at The Greenbrier, explore other area attractions, or head back home.

• Most participants will be staying in the Rimfire Lodge in the Mountain Top Village, where you will find a variety of shops, restaurants, and activities.

• The Rimfire Junior Studio rooms are smaller efficiency versions of the Rimfire Studio.
• The Inn at Snowshoe is about a 10-minute drive from the Mountain Top with very basic, traditional motel rooms.
