Turkeys in the Frunk

Euroclassics Porsche, Flow Porsche

About this event

Turkeys in the Trunk: Two Opportunities to Share the Holiday Spirit and Give Back to the Communities in our Porsche Club of America Region!!!

The air is finally getting chilly; we’re starting to rake leaves and as the Holiday Season approaches, please make plans to join fellow Shenandoah Region members for our third annual "Turkeys in the Trunk" event on Saturday, November 17, 2018.  PCA members, friends and acquaintances are encouraged to participate.  This is all about giving back to our communities!!!

Note:  To register for either the Charlottesville or Richmond event, hit the "Continue" button at the bottom of this page.  After a second "Continue" button on the next page, you will be taken to the registration page.  There, you will have a choice to sign up for either Turkeys in the Trunk in Richmond, or Turkeys in the Trunk in Charlottesville.  Please check the box next to the event you'd like to attend and a dropdown menu will prompt you to sign up for each portion of that particular event (i.e. the dealership portion and the follow-on lunch social).   Please read on:

For those of you who haven’t been to “Turkeys in the Trunk”, this is how it works:  First, you load (or any quantity you feel appropriate) your front trunk (frunk), or your back trunk, if you have one, your roof rack, your passenger foot well....  or wherever, with frozen turkeys, canned vegetables, yams, non-perishable food and the rest of the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.  Don’t forget to leave room for your spouse or significant other, but tell them to pack lightly!

Last year was our second year supporting the Blue Ridge Food Bank and the first year supporting the Greater Richmond Food Bank (aka Feedmore).  The 2017 combined donations were over 1900 pounds of turkey and 968 pounds of non-perishable food and more than $2300 in checks.  It sure would be great if we could double our donations this year!  Come on out and support a wonderful cause, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Porsche owners, renew old acquaintances and even make some new friends.

This will again be a multi-Region event in conjunction with First Settlers Region.  We will use MotorsportReg for registration to get an accurate headcount of the participants for planning and logistics.  There will be separate registration in MotorsportReg for members in the central/western locations and eastern locations in the Shenandoah Region.  Both locations will hold their respective events on November 17th.  Please select the location closest for you to participate.

Event requirements

Western/Central Segment-Shenandoah Region

For members in the western/central portion of the Region we will be supporting the Thomas Jefferson Area Branch of the Blue Ridge Food Bank, 1207 Harris Street, Charlottesville (map), a member of Feeding America.

We appreciate the continued support of Shawn Ayers and his staff and we will meet at Porsche of Charlottesville (Flow Porsche), 1313 Richmond Road, Charlottesville (map) for coffee, donuts and socializing at 10 AM.  We will have our driver’s meeting for the short drive to the Blue Ridge Food Bank at approximately 10:40 AM, with a drive off at 11 AM.

Joe Caputi, Branch Manager Blue Ridge Food Bank and his staff have arranged to be open on Saturday, and they are looking forward to our arrival and donations.  For financial donations, please make checks payable to the Blue Ridge Food Bank.

After we complete our donations at the Food Bank, Terry Vasalis at Tip-Top restaurant (map) will set aside space for members and affiliates to enjoy lunch, relax, talk Porsches and enjoy each other’s company and conversation.

Eastern Segment-Shenandoah Region

For members in the eastern portion of the Region, we will be supporting the  Greater Richmond Food Bank (aka Feedmore), Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization dedicated to providing neighbors in need with healthy meals along with Richmond area members of First Settlers Region.

We appreciate the continued support of Mark Cooke and his staff and we will meet at Euroclassics Porsche (Euroclassics), 11900 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian (map) from 11 AM until 1 PM.  Coffee, snacks and soft drinks will be available and supplied by Euroclassics.  We will not be driving to Feedmore.  They will have a refrigerated truck on site to collect our donations.  For financial donations, please make checks payable to “Feedmore”.

After the donations have been made, those participants who want to have a late lunch, are invited to join a SRPCA drive from Euroclassics to the Fine Creek Brewing Company in Powhatan County to enjoy one another’s company over lunch, talk Porsches and socialize.

Thanks, in advance for your participation.  This event CAN make a difference in our communities!!
