This year TarHeel Sports Car Club and Triad Sports Car Club are coming together for the 10th annual Jimmy V Foundation Charity Autocross in Danville, VA on September 13th and 14th at the Danville Regional Airport! Come join us for two days of autocross and help support cancer research! "Cancer sucks, racing is awesome!"

In the past 10 years We have raised over $45k and we want to continue the tradition. All net revenue from this event will be donated to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The two clubs will work together and will run two different courses, one each day. ****Both days are separate THSCC Points Events, #6 and #7 for the year. Sunday will be Points #7 for TSCC.

We will have food on site! Saturday is bring your own food day, but Sunday we will have a variety of Sub sandwiches plates, chips, and drinks. Food will include chips & a drink and priced at $6/person, with all proceeds going to Jimmy V Foundation.

We'll also have a prize raffle (prizes to be announced as attained but likely certificates/gift cards for autox/rallyx entries, automotive repair/setup certificates from area shops, car/mechanic related tools). Tickets will be $5/each or 5 for $20. Come out and have some fun while supporting the Jimmy V Foundation's Cancer Research! Raffles will be held on SUNDAY, and NOT Saturday, but you are free to buy tickets both days.

Additionally, we want to take the time to honor one of friends and long time autocrossers, Jim Feinberg, who recently passed away. Jim was a good friend to many, and attended many, many events both local and national level over the years, winning the SCCA National Solo Championship and ProSolo as well in past years. Jim also battled cancer for several years, and the Jimmy V Foundation event was one of his favorites to attend and participate in. We miss and love you Jim!

Jim has been known for his Teddy that he took around and took pictures of, almost in selfie fashion. We honor him with this image, this event is being held in his honor. He was a true friend to so many, and a member of both clubs for many years.

Event requirements

THSCC

Your car should be teched BEFORE the drivers meeting. To pass tech, you must:

  • Clean out any loose items in the car, this includes cell phones cables, garage door openers, loose change and such.
  • The battery has to be properly secured.
  • If your floor mats are not physically attached to carpet, they will have to be removed. We don’t want the floor mat to bunch up under the brake or gas.
  • Hubcaps and center caps on wheels should be removed. If your hubcaps mount to the wheel and are held in place by the lug nuts, then they can stay on, otherwise they should be removed.
  • Have a SNELL approved helmet, 2000 or newer (M-rated or SA-rated). We do not accept DOT-only approved helmets any longer.

It is your responsibility to:

  • Check basic fluids such as oil, coolant, and brake.
  • Make sure you torque the lug nuts to manufacturer's recommended tightness.
  • Make sure you have no active leaks on the motor, transmission or diff. Oil on the track is a bad thing.
  • Check tire pressure. If you don’t know what to set it to, ask ASAP.
  • You WILL experience greater than normal tire wear. Your tires MUST be serviceable, meaning they have appropriate tread, no chords showing, etc.
  • There will be Junior Karts running in their own class. During these few runs there will be NO CARS RUNNING at all, as in, no engines on while the Junior Karts are doing their runs on course.
