Canceled --- CHED Santas Anonymous Charity Event

Castrol Raceway Park

About this event

We're Sorry ... this event has been canceled due to low advance registration. If you wish to get your car on track, please consider another of our events this season ... registration for all remaining events is at trackjunkies.motorsportreg.com. Instruction is available at all remaining events.

We welcome drivers of all experience levels to this "bucket list" driving experience in support of CHED Santas Anonymous ... Gentlemen and Ladies, START YOUR ENGINES!

FORMAT: This event offers a safe and welcoming environment for drivers with street and track cars to come out and play. This is a non-competitive high-speed lapping event with coordinated (point-by) passing. We use a rotating run group format that allows us to group drivers with similar skill levels, and cars with similar expected speeds, together with each other resulting in minimal congestion. Each participant will have one 20-minute reconnaissance session to start the day followed by four 20-minute sessions at speed. In total, each driver will have over 1.5 hours of scheduled track time at this event.

INSTRUCTION is provided for all novice track drivers. We start the day with a 20 minute instructional bus tour of the track led by a senior instructor, during which we identify the salient features of each corner (braking points, turn-in, apex and corner exit). We then pair each participant with a seasoned motorsport instructor who coaches from the passenger seat. We also offer classroom theory sessions throughout the day. All of this allows drivers of all levels to quickly learn the optimal racing line and begin to approach and experience the limits of their car.

SCHEDULE: This is a FULL DAYTIME event.

  • Gates to the paddock open at 7:30 AM
  • Registration and Full Breakfast Buffet from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM
  • Mandatory drivers meeting at 8:30 AM

  • Catered hot lunch from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM

COST of participating in this event:

  • Fee per driver:  $1,000
  • Instruction for novice drivers:  Included
  • All meals & beverages: Included
  • Per CRA guidelines, a tax receipt in the amount of $500 will be provided by CHED Santas Anonymous on request

Event requirements

Requirements:

– VALID DRIVERS LICENSE.  You do NOT require a competition license for this event. A Class 5 Graduated Drivers License (GDL) is acceptable; however, minors (under the age of 18) must also have signed parental consent forms. »more on waivers

– SAFE, TRACK-WORTHY VEHICLE INSPECTED IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT. Please note the following:

– “TRACK-WORTHY” generally means any sportscar, coupe or sedan that will stand up to the rigours of track driving. Brakes, suspension and tires are much more important than horsepower. Purpose-built race cars, including open-wheel cars, are welcome. A passenger seat is required.

CONVERTIBLES, cabriolets, and open-top cars must have structural rollover protection … if you do not know what this means, please contact us BEFORE registering. »more on convertibles

TRUCKS, SUV’s, and other high center of gravity vehicles are NOT permitted. Heavily-modified vehicles (horsepower increases, motor swaps, etc.) can be unreliable »more on vehicle suitability

– “SAFE” goes hand-in-hand with “INSPECTED IN ADVANCE“, meaning you need to download the Track Junkies self-tech inspection form found at www.trackjunkies.ca/self-tech.pdf prior to the event and verify the condition of each item on the form. Vehicles must be inspected separately for each track event — photocopies of previous inspections are not acceptable. This inspection requirement is not meant to be onerous or cost-prohibitive for the average motorsport enthusiast … the term “self-tech” means you may perform the inspection yourself if you have the required knowledge and tools. If you do not have the technical knowledge or tools required, or are you not willing to take the time to properly inspect each item, please have the vehicle inspected by a licensed Automotive Service Technician with knowledge of the rigors expected in road course driving. Our event sponsors Crosstown Auto Centre and BG Automotive Maintenance Services are offering event participants an Inspection and Brake Fluid Flush special for $99.95 + GST. »more on inspection requirements

– BRAKE FLUID must be less than six months old on event date. Again, our event sponsors Crosstown Auto Centre and BG Automotive Maintenance Services are offering event participants an Inspection and Brake Fluid Flush special for $99.95 + GST. »more on brake fluid

– YOUR OWN HELMET (owned or borrowed). Helmets must be Snell-approved M-2005 (motorcycle) or SA-2005 (motorsport) or newer.  We also accept international ECE and FIA certification standards, but these are less common in North America.  ALL Snell-approved helmets bear a Snell rating sticker, typically found by lifting up the helmet liner (you should not need to remove any glued portions of the liner to view the sticker).  Open-face helmets are preferred in vehicles with air bags; closed-face helmets are preferred in vehicles without air bags. Please remember that although incidents are rare, your brain is essential to the quality of life you enjoy and it deserves to be protected by a quality helmet. »more on helmet requirements

EVENT GOES RAIN OR SHINE. There are very few circumstances that would cause cancelation of a road course event. In fact, the best learning opportunities exist when grip is compromised by rain. Please be prepared for inclimate weather.

Experienced Drivers:  Please note that including the specifics of your motorsport driving history will help us place you in the most appropriate run group. Please take time to note relevant experience in the "Other Previous Experience" section when completing your profile.
