Neokla presents the The Second Running of the Area 51 Road Rally!
Come and join the NEOKLA REGION of the SPORTS CAR CLUB of AMERICA for a day of FUN by entering a ROAD RALLY!!
The entry fee will be $30.00 per car. There will be an ELITE field of TWENTY vehicles due to the small number of workers involved with this event. Enter EARLY to insure your spot!!! There will be two classes. LIMITED CLASS will be the standard driver only drives and navigator only navigates situation. STOCK CLASS will be the two driver situation where the entrants can "swap seats". Strategies may be employed as there will be "special" awards for the best score, regardless of class for the four paved legs and the four unpaved, mixed surface, legs. Class winners will receive trophies. All finishers are encouraged to attend the presentations after the event.
The route is about 130 miles in length and is about 75% paved. Paved roads have weathered the winter reasonably well. The unpaved are better than expected at this point. All roads have their "fun" or "challenging" areas. The route is entirely in Osage County. There will be cattle guards, low water crossings, livestock on the roadways as well as their agricultural deposits. Autocross techniques WILL be used on occasion!!! Any street-legal four-wheeled vehicle can be used, however, "low slung" vehicles would not be recommended. I have driven over these roads with a Corvette and an RX-7 in the past.
This is a timed event in which you are to AVERAGE the speeds assigned by the rally master. You goal is to arrive at each control EXACTLY on time. You do not want to be early OR late. The rally master will aid you with this task by providing the perfect elapsed time and official mileage for each instruction of a timed leg. HOWEVER, unlike last year the controls will NOT be shown in the instructions. INSTEAD, a false instruction will be placed where the control is with the CORRECT elapsed time and official mileage. Additional false instructions will follow to hide the true location of the control. Each leg will have it's own set of instructions and the entrants will zero there odometers at the start of each new leg.
Transits will have official mileages, but no perfect times, as they are NOT timed. Speeds assigned by the rally master are either below the posted speed limit or deemed to be reasonable when no speed limit is posted. Osage County is a county that has a county-wide speed limit when one is not posted. That speed limit is 45 mph.
