Lady Washington Tall Ship Battle Sail Tour

Non-track Event, Washington

About this event

Lady Washington Tall Ship Battle Sail Tour

Audi Club Northwest is pleased to introduce a new event for the 2014 Tour Season.

The Lady Washington Tall Ship Battle Sail Tour offers attendees the opportunity to enjoy a 3-hour cruise on the replica brig Lady Washington. The ship embodies maritime history of the 1700’s and early 1800’s. She is a traditionally-built replica launched in 1989 as the Official Ship of the State of Washington, and has appeared in several movies, including the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.  Lady Washington is 112 feet long, with a 22 foot beam, displaces 210 tons, and has a mast height of 89 feet. She has a sail area of 4400 square feet, and approximately 6 miles of rigging.

The three-hour Battle Sail features booming cannons, close-quarters maneuvers, and a taste of 18th century maritime life aboard tall ships. Passengers are invited to raise the sails, verbally taunt their opponents, and sing the chorus of a sea shanty. A Three Hour Tour!

This tour is scheduled for July 19, 2014. The day will begin with a driving tour beginning 8:00 am at University Audi (4701 11th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105arriving at Cap Sante Marina (1019 Q Avenue, Anacortes, WA 98221). Alternatively, participates can meet at Cap Sante Marina at 1 pm. Audi Club Northwest has reserved an exclusive charter aboard the Lady Washington. The sail will depart from Cap Sante Marina with a cruise from 2-5 pm.  Upon return from the sail, a no host dinner is planned at a restaurant TBD.

This tour is a unique opportunity to enjoy the history of a time gone by, when sailing ships traveled the seas. This is sure to be a popular family event and perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity. This is another in a series of tours scheduled over the years to bring to Audi Club NW members some of the many spectacular reasons we choose to live in the Pacific Northwest.

The cost for this tour is $45 per person (adult, teens, children, babe-in-arms). The brig has room for only 45 paying passengers, so be sure to reserve your place on this tour early.  Children under 18 may attend.  The 45 person number is a Coast Guard passenger limit.

The tour leader for this event is Mark Yonker, and he may be contacted for more information at 253-670-8575 or <stratocruiserb377@yahoo.com>.

Audi Club Northwest continues to offer new social and driving events each driving season. However, you do not need to own an Audi to participate in group tours. Drivers are encouraged to bring family and friends to participate and meet other Audi enthusiasts.

ACNA membership is not required for this event. Drivers who are not yet members or wish to renew an existing membership, may handle that using the Audi Club North America website <http://www.audiclubna.org/membership>.
