DRSCCA Solo #1: Season Opener Autocross

Michigan International Speedway

About this event

My apologies: I had a swing and a miss with the insurance paperwork and the event on Sunday is cancelled. If you're still interested in doing an autocross on Sunday, you can drive south to NWOR and run their Season Opener.

2022 DRSCCA Solo Supps

In light of the pandemic, we’re taking precautions to ensure that our autocross events are as safe as possible for all entrants and volunteers. We will continue to re-evaluate our procedures as things change.

We ask that you be patient and understanding with the actions that we are taking. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact John Li, the Solo Director.

Registration

We strongly recommend paying online. It makes registration and check-in much faster, and facilitates contactless check-in on-site. We will accept cash and checks, but note that it will be more expensive to do so, and you will need to provide the exact amount as we will have no change at registration.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Tammy Breece, Registrar.

Waivers

We are using electronic waivers (aka Speedwaiver) which allows you to sign using your cell phone. It is strongly recommended that you use the electronic waiver if you haven't signed the online SCCA yearlong waiver. For those unable to sign the waiver electronically, we will have paper waivers available upon request.

Any site-specific waiver forms will still need to be signed when entering the site for the first time with the waiver worker.

Paddock, Course, and Timing Truck rules

When outside and not in cars, all entrants and event workers must maintain 6 feet of social distance from non-related persons. This means staying 6 feet away from other people in the paddock, out on the course when doing course walks or working corners, and in spectator areas.

Face masks are mandatory when using indoor restrooms or inside the timing truck/RV. No one outside of the timing crews will be allowed inside the timing truck/RV when the event is running. This will be strictly enforced.

Anyone found flagrantly disobeying the rules detailed here will be asked to leave the event.

Loaner helmets

It is strongly recommended that drivers bring their own helmets if at all possible.

We will allow drivers to borrow loaner helmets. You will be asked to use a head sock with the helmet. Passengers are not guaranteed access to loaner helmets; we will be trying to reduce the number of folks sharing helmets while still offering drivers without helmets an opportunity to compete without having to buy their own.

We will not be able to sanitize helmets between users, and will attempt to limit to the best of our ability the number of drivers that end up sharing a helmet. If you are not comfortable with this, please bring your own helmet to the event.

Availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Competitors are responsible for bringing their own face masks. Please do not forget to bring your own. The club will have a small reserve supply of face masks at the timing truck/RV for those that forget to bring their own, but we may not have enough PPE to supply all entrants at an event.

Welcome to the Detroit Region of the SCCA

If you like to drive hard, then Autocross is for you! During autocross competition, drivers compete against the clock as they navigate technical courses. Each driver is given at least three chances to post their best time. It's fast, it's fun, and nearly anyone can afford to participate.

If you'd like to participate in the next autocross event, your car and a helmet are pretty much all you'll need to get started. Autocross competition is broken down into a number of classes so that virtually any car can be competitive. So whether you own a Corvette or a Civic, you can be sure you'll have a great time. So make your plans to attend today.

For more information about event dates, and location, check out the Solo schedule of events. We want to see you there!
