Chicago Region SCCA PDX 2013 #6

Blackhawk Farms Raceway

About this event

Last Performance Driving Experience for 2013!

Come out to Blackhawk Farms Raceway to drive your car on track for the last (or first) time this year. This mini-PDX takes place during a break in the Fall Sprints action. So, after you drive, you can stay for club racing.

You'll improve your driving skills, learn how to better control your car and, of course, HAVE FUN.

A PDX event provides the unique opportunity to bring your car on a real racetrack. All you need to participate is a registered street car, a valid driver's license and a helmet.

If you bring people along, be sure to remind them to ask about “Instructor Ride Along” opportunities, which are available for purchase at the track for small fee.

What is the schedule at this PDX event?

This is a shorter event than usual because of the racing schedule. The goal is to run two sessions of 15-20 minutes each.

Please make sure that you and your car qualify for a PDX event. You must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver license. Convertibles***, unless they are equipped with a hard top or approved rollover protection, are not allowed. Vehicles with other removable tops (t-tops, targa tops, etc.) must meet appropriate safety regulations. Be sure to check this link to Level 1 PDX Rules. Then, register by following the link on this page.

Note: *** The 2002 Porsche Boxster, the Honda S2000 and the MINI Cooper Convertibles have been approved by the manufacturer as having factory rollover protection and may enter a SCCA Track Day (PDX) Event.

For this event, plan on getting to the track by 8:00 AM. Once you arrive at the track, you will check in, park, unload your vehicle, and prepare it for the track. Next you will need to get your car inspected and then report for a drivers' briefing. Once that briefing is over, the rest of the event should be spent behind the wheel of your car or riding along with your instructor to gain a better understanding of the track, the proper line and driving tips. These tips are provided by qualified instructors, most of whom have years of racing experience. We have the track from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Should I do anything before I arrive at a PDX?

Please refer to our Track Day - ToDo List and Track Flags pages on the SCCA Chicago Region website.
